Boyne 10K 06022011 128Thanks to everyone who helped out, joined up, volunteered, assisted, cheered on, made tea, directed, lugged and lifted, cleaned up and turned out yesterday. It was a great day for Drogheda. Photos will be up on the website and Facebook shortly.

Late Entries Accepted up to Sunday

Late entries will be accepted up to Sunday 5pm on a first come first served basis. Please go to the late entry desk at the Laurence Town Centre. The late entry fee is 30.00. Cash or cheque only.

National Marathon Champion to Run Boyne 10K 2011

National Womens Marathon Champion Barbara Sanchez will be at the starting line for the second Boyne 10K on Sunday 1 May. Barbara, who runs for Raheny Shamrocks was the first Irish woman home in the 2010 Dublin City Marathon in a great time of 2:39:36.

 

The front line is really hotting up with some great local runners taking part including Simon Ryan of Raheny Shamrocks, Aaron Goring Dunleer AC, Derek Winters and Paul Smith of Drogheda and District AC.

C’mon Drogheda – Get Running!

Over 1,000 runners and walkers, will take over the streets of Drogheda on Sunday evening 1 May 2011. The entries are flying in, signing up for a great day out and raising funds for local athletic facilities and the Building of Hope Project 2011.

On the start and finish line, in the heart of our great town, there will be music and craic. Sean O Cearrullain will be doing a warm up for everyone. Olive Halpin founder of the Building of Hope will be there as will Derek Davis patron of the charity. Lord Mayor Paul Bell will be shooting the starting gun to let the games commence.

Mc Phails pub will be putting on a barbecue for all participants to enjoy a well earned pint and burger. Highlanes Gallery / Andersons Coffee Shop, on Laurence St, will also be providing refreshments and entertainment to participants on the day, including a Blues band as part of the fringe festival.

Juvenile races will be running down West St to the finish line, after the main event has started. Boyne  Athletics Club will be taking entries from under 8s all the way up to under 16s.

There will be something for everyone – so big support is expected from the people of Drogheda. C’mon Drogheda get out and cheer your town on.

Registration

April 12th, 2011

Registration will take place on Friday 29 April and Saturday 30 April at the Laurence Town Centre, Drogheda, Co Louth between 10:00am and 5:00pm. At registration you can pick up your number and final details on traffic management and safety on the day. You will be required to sign off your registration pack. Should you wish to collect friend or family registration packs, you will be required to sign these off also. Once signed off, the organisers will not take any responsibility for lost or misplaced numbers.
